About Cape Chronicle Publishing
Cape Chronicle Publishing is a growing digital news publication covering the people, places and events shaping the Western Cape. We are expanding our network of independent contributors and are looking for motivated individuals who are passionate about journalism, storytelling and community reporting.
This opportunity is open exclusively to permanent residents of the Western Cape.
About the Opportunity
This is not an employment position. Successful applicants will operate as Independent Contractors, creating editorial and sponsored content on a self-employed basis.
As an Independent Contractor, you will have the freedom to identify stories, develop your own client relationships, produce quality content and earn income through advertorial and sponsored publications.
Your profile will be featured on the Cape Chronicle Contact page, allowing businesses, organisations and members of the public to engage with you directly regarding content opportunities.
Payments for advertorial work are made directly to you by your clients according to the Cape Chronicle Rate Card. A small editorial oversight fee is retained by Cape Chronicle to review content for legal compliance and adherence to our Editorial Standards before publication.

Responsibilities
- Research and write original news stories and feature articles.
- Produce accurate, balanced and engaging content.
- Source photographs, video or supporting material where appropriate.
- Develop relationships with businesses and organisations seeking advertorial opportunities.
- Submit content that complies with Cape Chronicle’s Editorial Standards.
- Meet agreed publication deadlines.
Ideal Candidate
You may be an experienced journalist, freelance writer, photographer, videographer, subject-matter expert or community storyteller.
Successful contributors should demonstrate:
- Excellent written English.
- Strong research and interviewing skills.
- High ethical and editorial standards.
- Self-motivation and the ability to work independently.
- Good communication and networking skills.
- Knowledge of the Western Cape and its communities.
